The job

The cook produces the dishes served in the establishment in accordance with quality criteria – a high degree of creativity is not required. The main tasks are summarized as follows:

Main tasks

  • Daily planning and organization of the work environment
  • Verification of available reserves and ingredients
  • Producing dishes accurately by following established criteria
  • Mise-en-place
  • Food preparation: Sauces, soups, meat and poultry dishes, pasta dishes, dredging and marinating, crustacean and fish dishes, vegetable and fruit dishes, basic desserts
  • Performing the service
  • Organizing and maintaining a clean work environment
  • Quality control and attention to detail
  • Properly storing food in accordance with sanitation regulations
  • Maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment
  • Strict adherence to personal hygiene and safety regulations

Qualifications required

  • 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Professional work ethic and behavior (teamwork skills, autonomy, interpersonal skills, honesty, versatility, sense of initiative, sense of organization, etc.)
  • Good physical fitness
  • Knowledge and application of basic health, safety, hygiene and sanitation principles
  • Resourcefulness
  • Speed of execution
  • Stress tolerance
  • Ability to communicate information easily and quickly
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to concentrate in a noisy and hectic environment
  • A developed sense of taste and smell
  • DEP (or equivalent) in Cuisine and Gastronomy an asset
